“My vision for cannabis is to have consumers fully lean into the recreational, psychedelic side of the plant.”

Meet Libby on “The Ellementa Show” on Sunday 4/25 at 12pm PT/3pm ET!
How would you describe yourself and what you do?
I am a designer by trade and the brand visionary behind Space Coyote. I’m a stoner, and I love making products that are a guaranteed win for the market. I love to get high. I know that people love to get high, too.
When did you get started working with cannabis? What is your vision and mission for your professional cannabis endeavors?
I entered the legal cannabis industry in 2016 — this is my 5th year in the industry. My mission is to have Space Coyote be a national brand that is loved and trusted by stoners everywhere. My vision for cannabis is to have consumers fully lean into the recreational, psychedelic side of the plant.

What is your personal cannabis origin journey?
My love story with cannabis started in the summer 2006. In college, I began to experiment regularly and instantly knew I wanted to make this experience a permanent part of my life. At the time, I was located in Tennessee. I knew that to have a sustainable career in this industry I needed to move to a state with friendly cannabis regulations. In 2010, I moved to California with the intention of getting into the legal market one day.

What is your Superpower?
I’m an animal whisperer.
What has been your greatest obstacle in business to date – and how have you overcome it – or are you still working on tackling it?
…having men either reply to, including look at, my male employees or male co-founder when I’ve asked a question, rather than reply to me. If you can believe it, it’s still difficult to get men to talk directly to me. For example, in a meeting on my recent business trip, I had the founder of a company we are working with ask me what my role at the company was and when I said I founded Space Coyote, he was shocked, and yet still only addressed my male counterparts in the room while talking.

What would you like women to know about entering the Cannabis industry or exploring Cannabis?
We need more women in leadership roles. While fundraising, we didn’t speak to a single female investor. In the manufacturing space, there are barely any women in executive positions. The women that are in those executive spots are so badass, we just need more of them in the industry leading the charge.
