Her Canna Q&A with Lynn Honderd, Mary’s Brands

Lynn Honderd said: “I would like to see more women remain in leadership positions and be appointed to and retain leadership positions!”

Describe yourself and what you do.

I am the proud founder and CEO of Mary’s Brands: Mary’s Medicinals, Mary’s Nutritionals, Mary’s Methods, and Mary’s Tails.

When did you get started working with cannabis? What is your vision for your professional cannabis endeavors?

Growing up I was not into cannabis, and, quite honestly, was not an advocate for legalization. You could have coined me Nancy Reagan’s poster child for “just say NO.” That viewpoint has drastically changed obviously, and from the inception of me getting into this industry it has become unequivocally clear that consumption of cannabinoids like CBD is a far safer alternative to pharmaceuticals for relief.

What is your personal cannabis origin story?

Again, I was skeptical and hadn’t tried cannabis growing up, but everything clicked when we explored clinical grade delivery methods such as a transdermal patch. It was the patch that truly opened my eyes to the power of cannabinoid therapy.

What is your Superpower?

Time travel. Recently, I had to be in Tel Aviv and New York speaking at two conferences within half a day of each other, and I made it happen. Also, balancing work and being a mom is a superpower. I recently paired a speaking engagement in NYC with a whole host of college visits with my daughter, Lauren, in NYC.

What has been your greatest obstacle in this industry or with your business to date?

The ever-evolving legal and regulatory framework state to state. It continues to be a challenge, but we’re nimble in order to accommodate the reality that things often change quickly.

“[F]rom the inception of me getting into this industry it has become unequivocally clear that consumption of cannabinoids like CBD is a far safer alternative to pharmaceuticals for relief.”

What is your advice for women in the cannabis industry?

We’ve recently seen a massive decline in females in leadership roles, so I would like to see more women remain in leadership positions and be appointed to and retain leadership positions!
