Mise en place:
14 grams fully cured Super Lemon Haze Olive Oil
8 ounces olive oil
Decarboxylize the cannabis. On the stove add the olive oil and ground cannabis into a double boiler then turn the stove top onto a medium low setting. Make sure to completely stir in the ground cannabis so that it is completely covered by the oil. Cook this mixture for 1 hour then remove from the heat and strain with a fine mesh strainer or cheese cloth into a measuring cup.
After the olive oil cools completely pour into a sterilized glass bottle of your choice then secure the cap tightly. Store your cannabis infused basic olive oil in the refrigerator. This olive oil will have a shelf life of 1 month when refrigerated.
As a precaution, under no circumstances should the cannabis have any traces of moisture content left in them. Any amount of water no matter how minute will create the perfect environment in the oil to breed bacteria and can create toxins such as botulism. Make sure the cannabis is 100% cured before infusing. If at any point the bottle begins to cloud throw away immediately as this means sources of contamination have taken root in your oil.
This recipe for Super Lemon Haze Olive Oil produces 16 tablespoons or 48 teaspoons.
Calculate the dosage based on THC percentage. If a gram tests at 20% THC, twenty percent of 1,000mg would be 200mg. So if you added 14 grams worth of bud into this recipe at 20% THC it would look something like this: 2800mg divided 48 servings would equal 58.3mg per serving. Sub the number of your THC percentage and do the math to figure out your dosing. If you want a smaller dose, cut down the grams or choose a strain with lower THC percentage.
Always shake the bottle before dosing. Start with one teaspoon, then work your way up to one tablespoon if needed. If you are looking for a more refined and precise dosage for a strain that has unknown THC percentage, refer to the dosing chart in my book.
